It doesn't matter how real or true the facts are; the issue is how something that somebody says is transformed into something that will change the world. I can say something — it doesn't matter if it's true or not— but your reaction and the emotion it generates within you are real. It happens a lot in lovers' quarrels, where people say things that they probably don't even mean, but once stated, they are reacted to as if they are true. It is actually the person being spoken to who gives these words their power. The actual facts are not important but the consequences of what is said are real and tangible. It feel this way about world in general And for this reason I feel that my films have a certain political aspect. They show how a person can transform the world. It is totally possible for someone to transform the world through sheer willpower and through the collective willpower of others. We are the creators of our own reality. Reality is not something that exists but is something that we have constructed, and, since we have made it, we can also remake it differently.
